Rodney David Montgomery

	Rodney David Montgomery, age 81, of Coulterville, died Friday, April 13, 2001 at 4:10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
	Rodney was born in Coulterville on September 24, 1919, the son of Dave and Mayme (Birchler) Montgomery.  He married Biddy Elizabeth Bryan on June 2, 1943 in Clayton, Mo. and she survives.  He was a farmer, a coal miner with Peabody Coal Company for 33 years prior to his retirement, a member of the Coulterville United Methodist Church, a member of the United Mine Workers of American Local 1148 and a member of the Perry County Farm Bureau.
	Survivors include his wife:  Elizabeth of Coulterville, son:  Raymond Montgomery and his wife, Edith Ann, of Sparta, daughters:  Madelyn Hill, and her husband, Leslie Dale, of Pinckneyville, and Alice true, and her husband, Rick of Richview, brother:  James D. Montgomery, and his wife, Lee, of Arnold, Mo., sisters:  Dorothy Leming of Coulterville, Cleo Jones of Collinsville, Opal Wilson of Coulterville, and Beth Bumann of Sparta, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, a son:  Myron D. Montgomery, brothers:  D.J. and lester, sisters:  Lena Leming, Viola Leming, Verna McBride, Imogene Woodside and Alice Woodside.
	Funeral services were held Monday, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. in the Coulterville United Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Arnold officiating.  Interment was in the Coulterville City Cemetery.
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Coulterville, on Sunday, April 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 8 to 9:30 a.m.  Then at the church until services.
	Memorials may be made to the Coulterville United Methodist Church.
